Conforming 60fps to 24fps for slowmo effect
on Nov 10, 2011 at 3:01:44 am

My cinema tools crashes in Lion so I can't conform.
Aside from aftereffects and premiere(interpret footage) is there a way to conform 60fps to 24fps inside AVID? In other words can i conform 60fps to 24fps in Avid without using thirdparty software?

I would need it for slomo effect.

Thanks
Israel

Import the footage into a 23.98 project. Drop the footage into the timeline. Add the TIMEWARP effect to it. Go into the effects editor and drop the line graph down to 100%. That should slow it down.

(typing this from memory...no 60fps footage to test with ATM)

Thanks Shane. Actually I need to batch conform, not do speed changes.
Basically just apply the frame rate conversion to all the clips without the effects option.

Sorry, Avid doesn't do that. Gotta do it the way I mentioned. Avid doesn't CONFORM like that.

You can try the command IgnoreQTrate TRUE in the Console. This forces the import to be done frame by frame.

clip must have audio tracks removed prior to import or it won't work.

Thank you both. I did find about writing those on the console during my research. But I ended up using compressor and batch export all the videos with 60 fps to 23.98 which I usually use. That will be my set for all batch conforming from here on for Avid as well.

Hey I was just wondering, how did you batch export your clips in compressor to 24 fps from 60 fps, and did it give you the same results as if you were to conform them using cinema tools?

Hey Eric,
Yes! It gave the same results as cinema tools did.
I imported a batch. Added the setting and exported it.
Its a little more work getting the settings right than compared to cinema tools.
The only major issue I had was (with Lion) that I had to bring it into segments and not all 100 clips at a time.
When I brought it all, it would crash on me.
But it does the job.

Hope this helps.
