Importing Pro Res 422 QTs 23.98 fps into Avid

Following directions from this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306389

I captured my footage from my Canon HV20 into FCP using easy setup, HDV, 29.97, 1080i60 Firewire Basic. Then I converted this footage in compressor using a customized Apple ProRes 422 for Progressive material. Now I have QTs in my capture scratch folder all set to go, which are at 23.976 fps.

I'm wondering if this footage can be edited in an Avid Adrenaline v2.0.6? Could my converted QTs be loaded into the Avid, or would we have to go back and re-capture from my mini-DVs? In other words can my converted QTs only be edited in FCP now?

Last question is what's the point of shooting/editing in 23.98 fps for on air when it has to eventually be converted to 29.97 fps? Does it look better still being converted from 23.98 fps to 29.97?

An answer to any of these questions would be a big help
thanks

As far as I know, ProRes isn't available unless FCP is installed. Even then, I don't know if it would be available for Avid to read during import. You could always try, but if I were you I would reencode the quicktimes to an Avid codec.

Regarding the 23.98fps versus 29.97--I have no idea. I haven't had the pleasure(?) of working with it, but I assume you'll eventually have to take it back to 29.97 for broadcast.

Is there a reason you're not just editing it on FCP?

Michael.

The advantage of editing in native 23.976 for eventual broadcast at 59.94 is the fact that the cadence is continuous from start to end including all layers, VFX, etc and allows for a better MPEG2 encode for broadcast DVD, etc.

That makes sense..59.94 meaning broadcast in HD, right? Do you know the best way to export out of 23.98 into broadcast 29.97?
