Pro-Animator 4 - Spikes on ai imported text
on Jan 21, 2012 at 3:16:40 am

Hi Folks,
I'm in a tight spot as I have been trying to overcome this issue for 2 days now. I am importing text from Illustrator into ProAnimator 4, and am getting some pretty bad spikes off of several letters. I've tried cleaning them up in Illustrator but they still appear. I've adjusted the spike control to 100 but it does not eliminate the really bad spikes.

The only reasons I haven't built the text in Proanimator are:

1. The lower case 'G' is being squashed.

2. There is some extra "schmutz" around some of the characters that I had to clean out in Illustrator. (There's no way to do this in Pro-Animator that I can see. I'm willing to be proved wrong!)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated! My eyes feel like they are going to burn out of their sockets...

William

The spikes can be reduced using the "Mesh" button. I don't exactly recall where it is, but it's an option for the object.

There's a video tutorial for 3D Invigorator and Illustrator files. You can google for it.

Oh, got it: http://zaxwerks.com/movies/media/35_Illustrator.html

I hope this helps

Thank you, Fernando!

And great tutorial as well. Picked up a couple more pointers, which I really appreciate!
