What Does 3x3 and 5x5+1.5 Mean? When To use
on Feb 1, 2008 at 2:52:01 pm

Have Pro Animator 4 on XP.

In reading thru the manuals over the last year it seems I have missed what the Anti-Aliasing settings mean somehow. On the camera panel there is a 3x3 Tab in the Render Area for example.

What do these Mean to a practical User?

What is the Difference between 2x2 and 4x4 and 5x5+.06?

When should I choose one over another...for what reason.

Can anyone help or point me to a discourse?

Thanks

Suzzie

I don't know the geeky technical details but the simple answer is that the higher the numbers (3x3, 5x5, etc.) the more anti-aliasing is applied during the render (and also longer render times).

The other numbers (+.06, +1.5, etc) indicate the amount of blur applied to the image (measured in pixels). It's similar the Gaussian blur filter in PS or AE.

Hope this helps.
