I have shot and edited a play in 16:9 format. The client wants to put it on the web. The length of the play is 1hr 41 min.... Any thoughts on what is the best way for he (me?) to show that length program on the web? Most of my work is commercials for broadcast so I haven't done a lot for the web so any input would be most helpful. Thanks, Jack
I think your client is asking much, and while it sounds like a a cool thing to do, it's going to be a headache for you.
First, you need to ID a host/ISP who's gonna provide the storage for file. Then you need to ID a compression scheme for the program. Considerations include whether or not you want folks to download or if you intend to stream. If you stream, you need to determine data rate. For a good image, you'll need a higher data rate 150 - 300k, but then folks on dial-up will have a horrrible time seeing this, and this doesn't even take into account the aspect ratio you might use.
Are you starting to get the picture (such as it is)?
