For the last 4 years I've been exporting my completed Media100 projects as self contained movies and burning them to discs. This has worked well as a quick, compact and hi-quality Media 100 back-up, since I don't often have access to a tape deck. Yet, I'm now using a friends FCP system to broaden my skill set...in addition my Media 100 is dead...and am cutting a new reel on his FCP system. I loaded the M100 Transcoder.Component from Media 100 v8 into the system lib and the movies are playing back fine and smooth on the desktop - but, when going through an NTSC monitor I get what can only be discribed as "Field Chop". I've tried evey FCP sequence setting and have also tried re-rendering the movies out in After Effects as animation movies. Still no luck! PLEASE HELP!!! Almost everything I have is backed up as M100 self contained movies.
Here is some more info: The system I exported the movies on was a Mac running OS9 / Media 100i v7.5 / QT5
The FCP system I am working on is a Mac Dual 2.5 running OSX / FCP HD 4.5 / QT6.5.2
PLEASE HELP!!! Almost everything I have is backed up as M100 self contained movies and right now I can't afford a new Media 100 set up.
First thing is to download the software codec and install it, and get rid of the Transcoder.
Then, are your Media 100 files 720*486 or 640*480? If they are 640 you need to convert them (e.g. through AE) to a 720 resolution, depending on where you want to go. If they are 720*486, make sure your timeline and hardware settings are also 720*486 in FCP, not 720*480. Or download the beta version of Media 100 sw for free and use your files there without problems regardingless of which resolution you did use.
