Reading Cinewave projects?
on Feb 27, 2007 at 10:31:31 am

I am finally taking the step forward & dumping my cinewave card. I bought a Kona 2 card & will upgrade the system software & FCP. Will I be able to read my old Cinewave files. Is there a codec available so I don't have to redigitize all the media?

Installing the Blackmagic Codec will let you read all your cinewave codec files:

You will have to render them to something else to play them through the AJA though. Our workflow is just to make a new 8bit Uncompressed sequence drop the Cinewave clips into the timeline and hit render. Takes a while but works like a charm.

AJA has software downloads as well, you won't need blackmagic codecs.

[JeremyG] "AJA has software downloads as well, you won't need blackmagic codecs."

Are you saying that the AJA codec can also read Cinewave files? That's good to know.

yes
by changing the seq compression setting to be AJA's 2 VUY codec you do not limit the function of your Kona card,
and yes it will see Cinewave, and digital voodoo and other first generation compression formats.
