Quicktime Downconvertion
on Jan 16, 2007 at 6:58:07 pm

Hi,

I already bothered you with this issue but I still haven't been able to fix it. I have a 720p 58.97 DVCPRO HD project, and I'm trying to burn a SD version using compressor and DVD studio pro. The DVD looks very soft and the graphics lack quality. I've try different techniques, but I still haven't found a solution. Is there a format I should downconvert to? Does this has anything to do with the frame rate? Which is the best way to do this?

Don't downconvert before you burn the DVD. Try first exporting a Quicktime Movie (uncheck SELF CONTAINED and you will export a reference file...much smaller) and then take that into Compressor and choose one of the High Quality DVD encodes, making sure to check the 16:9 letterboxed option. Then burn the DVD. I have had great looking DVDs come out that way. DVCPRO HD footage.
