Recording from Cable Box via HDMI or component.

I am attempting to record a signal from a comcast HD box. I have tried HDMI and component hookups with no luck. I did change the input to HDMI and component respectivley as well as the output. I have been unable to determine if it is even possible to record a cable signal onto the deck.

If anyone can give me some ideas and suggestions, it would be appriciated.

With regards,

Jeff Taylor

Sorry,

Aja adheres to the HDMI spec that includes digital copy protection, that is the reason you cannot get it to work.

Thank you for your response. I thought that might be the case but wanted to make sure. Have a great day.

Gary,

And what if I transform the signal passing through some converters? HDMI -> SDI, and (if no work) with another SDI -> HDMI converter?

Like I find a solution for Canon 5d Video Assist. Hdmi signal from camera, connected to a hdmi splitter (one for onboard monitoring; and the other for a HDMI-> SDI converter). Then I get a 480i signal, but in KiPro appears 525i. Otherwise, or without the splitter, signal jumps between Livemode and Reccording.

So, modifing the signal passing by several converters, will do eliminate the copy protection?

there is no copy protection in an analog video signal.
