Transferring content via Firewire
on Nov 1, 2011 at 11:25:50 am

Hi All,

I am wondering if it is possible to load clips onto the SSD via firewire, instead of 'recording' through the inputs.

The reason I ask is because I am using the kipro as a playback unit for a corporate event. I have a logo clip that needs to be looped. But when I 'record' the clip via HDSDI, I cannot be accurate enough to ensure a smooth loop. I would much prefer to load on the .mov file as it is perfect in terms of length for looping.

Any help, greatly appreciated.

Dan

Absolutely. It needs to be any flavor of ProRes movie at almost any standard frame rate with dual mono audio.

FYI, you should be ale to get frame accurate layoffs with a card that supports RS422, at least it works here. If doing any conversions (up/down/cross), set the KiPro to do them.

As noted, any of the Apple ProRes 422 file types may be played back on the Ki Pro. In addition to the codec, the frame size must be a broadcast or digital cinema rate:
720p 23.98
720p 25
720p 29.97
1080PsF 23.98
1080PsF 24
1080i 25
1080i 29.97

Also, the Ki Pro requires the use of 24-bit 48kHz audio in dual mono or stereo. Many programs render to 16-bit by default.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact AJA Technical Support.

Really?

720p 23.98 is a non -standard playback format and since the KiPro does not have the ability to add or remove pulldown, how is it possible to playback this frame rate as anything other than a conversion to 1080 23.98?
