HD Cam TC Mystery

So, got a dilemma,

Printing to HD Cam, blacked the first two minutes,(00:58:00:00-01:00:00:00)
Now trying to have FCP through a Kona LHi stripe the rest of the tc while I lay video and audio tracks along with it. (this is just so I don't have to black the whole tape before laying off)

Laying down video and audio fine, just a problem where the time code inserts.
As soon as it inserts, it gives me an offset number, just something random (from the blacks 58:49:29 to 01:90:20:00 some strange number and continues on from there)

I have tried trouble shooting the problem, It's gotta be one of three things. FCP, Kona LHi, or the VTR itself.

I don't think its FCP, the timecode on the sequence is how I want it and inserting via the edit to tape should provide me that TC (with the TC button clicked of course)

Kona's software has little under the TC tab and I have the output checkmarked as "Use Quicktime Timecode" with NO timecode offset.

last but not least, I have the deck (an hdcam F500) TC Menu on the following:

TCR Select - LTC
TCG Mode - PRST (with TCG Source - In LTC)
Run Mode - Rec
Non Drop (as is my sequence)
and lastly VITC - TCG

Everything is going HDSDI from the kona to the VTR.
I read on the manual that the TC menu on the hdcam deck might need to be altered to select the HDSDI port as the main source of TC, But when I tried what I thought was the correct input, still nothing!

Could really use some help on this one

Have you set the internal timecode preset on the VTR? Every time you record on the VTR it advanced the internal TC, if you rewind and record again it will start where you left off. You need to reset this to match your inpoint. Email me if you have anymore questions: dave@desmoinesfreelancer.com

Hey, just tried email you,

So are you saying that it's still using the internal timecode generator instead of the timecode being sent along the HDSDI cable?

If this is the case, how is it that just laying black to tape gives me exact timecode from fcp?
