Will it output both 2k and a 1k sequences to 1080?

What about other frame sizes? Like for instance would it take a 960x540 (1/2 size of 1080) sequence and output to 1080?

The IoHD is not enabled for REDCode files like the Kona 3 card is.

No, the IoHD will only handle Single Link SMPTE rasters in HD and SD. (1080, 720, 625, 525 only)

Thanks Gary-

Good to know. Thats certainly too bad, and It's something I certainly wish they could add, as I hate giving up ESATA on a macbook pro for external monitoring.

But I guess this pushes me more toward MXO2 as it's is cheaper, and will send out 1k to 1080/720 for monitoring. Then throw in the fact that transcoding Red 4K 2:1 shot material down to pro-res 1k is 25% faster than going to 720, with about a 15% savings in file size, and I guess making the sacrifice of disk speed and real time streams when on a MBP is worth it.

There's never a perfect for me device. lol.

FYI the IoHD will handle that 1K output just like Matrox does- render it our to the HD format of your choice.

However your route to finish would not be my ever be my choice.

I would never work in REDCode @ 1K and upres to HD for any reason, this is not a lot better than working with SD with uprez.
You are going to do yourself and your client a dis-service by shooting such a high quality image at 4K then dumbing it down to 1K and then up-rezing back to HD- sorry but it is a waste.

Do HD or Do SD but do not try to make it work in between.

Oh nice really this is all about monitoring at this point.
Maybe I can stay in the AJA family. This is more of an offline workflow with red at this point. Since I rarely output to tape really I just need monitoring and the ability to output/capture for the rare occasion it occurs.

I would never finish this way, and never recommend it either. Probably not even for previews.
