Not sure, but if I had a Red One and wanted FAST dailies I would
be all over that Ki Pro.

Looks great. But what about handheld shooting? And how can we use it effectively on large shoulder-mounted 2/3" HD camcorders? It's okay if you are just doing tripod-mounted shooting on a dinky camera. Very innovative product but limiting in a way.

dude :

There are all kinds of wireless video transmitters out there. IDX has an HD/SDI transmitter/reciever combo selling for just about 5k. The tx accepts Vmount batteries as well. Problem solved. A Kipro wirelessly receiving HD/SDI video is cause for a major hard on.

4k for the Ki Pro and another 5K for a wireless Tx(if you need it) i dont care what anyone says, cheap dailies are here this is a no brainer.

Handheld shooting is entirely possible. It'll be a rig with the exoskeleton, but it will work. KiPro with exosskeleton is about 6 pounds. KiPro itself is. 3 pounds.

I would like to see what AJA thinks of these ideas for making The Ki Pro work better with handheld big cameras.

Some suggestions...

1. AJA to approach Portbrace and/or KATA to make a specific shoulder bag for the Ki Pro/Exoskeleton. This could give extra room foir drivers, batts, etc as well.

2. Provide a single dual-core cable (3 metre?) that could provide start/stop control and SDI connection. I'm not meaning a new multi-core connection, but a seperate SDI/BNC and lens tap connector.

3. Incorporate a warning sound if RF / video signal is broken to the Ki-Pro.

Lens Tap and LANC are already there and will be enabled in the future.

As for an additional Hd/SDI- thats what a DA is for since this meant for older camera systems also, as someone that works this way onset already, it would add to the cable mess.

I am sure it's coming, once it's released Portabrace et al will be all over it as they'd be silly not to be.

You don't necessairly need a control cable if you are shooting regen tc. If shooting regen tc, the KiPro will arm once it sees tc running. You can have a wireless handheld device (such as an iPhone) to trigger the KiPro. Might not be you as you are shooting, but it could be anyone. the KiPro has a built in wifi transceiver. If shooting Freerun, you will need a separate control style cable, such as lanc or lens tap (or you can still use the wifi for wireless control).

There are already (acording to folks) 3rd party folks wanting in on products. If you want a bag you can use a bag meant for the Sure FP-33 it will fit no worries and give you the extra room you seek

Would heat build up of the Ki Pro in the Sure FP-33 bag be an issue?

[Tom Daigon] "Would heat build up of the Ki Pro in the Sure FP-33 bag be an issue? "

Heat build up on digital equipment is always a concern, enclosing the sides of the KiPro where the air vents would cause cooling problems just like with any other device.

Enclosure in a bag or case would also limit access to the KiPro drive modules as well.

I'm interested to know if anybody has 3 ki-pros for rental with at least 4 removable storage drives, (the bigger the better). I know they are relatively new to market, so I hope I won't get flagged for commerce.
