Setup of Aja IO with FCP
on Nov 21, 2008 at 3:15:28 pm

I hope someone can help me with this totally newbie question.

I've borrowed a AJA IO, to view my grading on an external monitor. I've installed the software and connected through FW800. I can see it's receiving the audio and assume the video is there as well. Now I just don't know how to get the image through to the monitor.

I've enabled ALL FRAMES ON in VIEW. What should I choose in Video playback (my sequence/material is 1080i-50 PAL HDV) and how should I hook up the AJA IO to the monitor, which is a JVC TM-H1950C? It's got BNC and S-Video input, but I stink at connecting machines. Am usually just editing and someone assists me with the gear.

Hope someone has the goodwill to help :-D

Hit conrol-q and choose the easy setup that matches your footage.

Thanks. Which one will match HDV? And how should I connect the AJA to the monitor?

Tnx

With HDV, you need to set your timeline to render in ProRes in the sequence settings, then select the easy setup that matches your footage/frame rate (1080i25, ProRes). You can't play out HDV in real time until you render to ProRes with the ioHD.

What kind of monitor? What connections does it have? Is it an Hd monitor?

No, it's an SD monitor from JVC. It has 2 BNC in/out and one S-video in/out...

Take an Svideo cable and connect the output of the ioHD to the input of the tv.

Thanks.
What output should I choose in FCP for HDV?
