AJA Io HD timecode issues
on Apr 1, 2008 at 2:33:22 pm

I am having great difficulties capturing using the AJA Io HD in FCP. Everything appears to be processing normally and then when I batch capture or capture now I get an error that states that there is a timecode break. I have switched tapes and no matter what I try to capture I get the same error. Please advise.

try not to double post either if your not going to give us info.

I asked a number of questions in the FCP forum.

I have the exact same problem trying to capture from a HDW-M2000 and from a DVW-M2000P using a FCP 6.0.3, Io HD, MacBook Pro 2.6GH, 4GB Ram.

I'm using the Rs422 to capture the Timecode and I never found a solution...

Make sure that you have your device control set for Sony and not Panasonic.

Yes I'm using AJA IoHD : 25 Sony VTR.
And even when I put non-controllable device after 2 minutes the computer stops capturing and it tells me that there is a TC dropout. And on the tape there isn't any TC break...

[Steven Blatter] "and it tells me that there is a TC dropout. And on the tape there isn't any TC break...
"

All right, Gary got me thinking. Is it TC drop out or a drop frame warning? Two totally different things. What exactly does the warning say?

[Steven Blatter] "same problem trying to capture from a HDW-M2000 and from a DVW-M2000P using a FCP 6.0.3, Io HD, MacBook Pro 2.6GH, 4GB Ram. "

OK

First guess is you are using FW drives without moving them to a new FW BUS...

You are getting a DF warning for 2 reasons - your Computer is not fast enough to handle the encode ( not likely here) or more likely your drives are not fast enough or you have something else on the FW bus

You cannot have more than one thing on the FW bus when working in HD. FW 400 and 800 on the laptop are on the same bus. -

I'm using a Lacie SATA in RAID 0 (with 5 drives) through the an Express Card to Sata card.
I can capture with no problem if I disconnect the rs422 cable so I don't think it's the computers speed causing the problem.

Anyway it is not possible to work in a PRO edit suite with the IoHD as the audio is not in sync when using SDI output in ProRes SD...

[Steven Blatter] "I can capture with no problem if I disconnect the rs422 cable so I don't think it's the computers speed causing the problem. "

So it's a configuration issue. I suggest you call or write AJA support (Support at aja dot com) and they should be able to set you straight.

Really? I don't see that here.
