FCP not finding IO on it's own
on Aug 28, 2007 at 6:51:55 pm

When I launch FCP, open a project and hit the space bar, I get the beachball. I have to refresh audio/video devices to get playback. This happens randomly while in the middle of projects as well. I can also click on the desktop and then back to FCP and get playback or launch another application and quit it, and get playback. ..but everytime I start FCP I have to do one of these things to get playback. Playback seems to be the only thing effected.

I've been talking with AJA, but they're at a loss at the moment.

Here's what I've tried:
Swapped with another IO
swapped firewire cables and ports
reinstalled IO drivers
zapped PRAM
Rebuilt permissions
copied media to system drive and played from there
G5 firmware is 5.1.4f0

any ideas?

[JeremyG] "Quicktime 7.2?"

QT 7.2 and FCP 5.1.4

this is your culprit....

What version(s) should I be using? Is the QT wrong?

I just did an archive install to get 7.1.6 back. Ugh, what a pain. I had to re-install all my drivers, etc. I don't seem to remember a warning in Software Update about that.
