Hi there, herd

What's the best route to go for video output monitoring from AE CS3 with Kona3? As far as I understand there are 3 options: Plugin with Driver, AJA Adobe Plugin for CS3, and Straight from AE VideoPreview.
(Currently running NucleoPro which does not seem to play well with either one of the first 2 options. - So have not been able to properly test that myself)

Anyone test these back to back to see what difference it brings to the table?

No plug-ins required. Just select the Kona 3 output from the Preview options.

Uh.Um. That is one of the 3 options I mentioned (which I'm currently using due to NP constraint). Apparently you can get HD 1080p24 RT when firing up their plugin for AE with Kona3. LHe does not pull hard enough to move that.

Anyone out there using either one of the other 2 suggested AJA plugins for AE?

I stopped using Nucleo Pro 2. AE's multiprocessing feels steadier and as fast as NP. Also sopped using AJA Adobe preview plug in. Goins traight the way Walter describes

Only pain is loosing BG render. That's been very good for my workflow...

Question: did you notice performance increase with the latest AJA Adobe 6.0.0 plugin? (not the one installed by the driver- this is an additional download from AJA site under Kona3) spoke to AJA tech and apparently makes a huge difference. They're working on CS4 version - and I don't know these guys to be spending resources in developing software that allows hardware acceleration for nothing...

Well I don't know about CS 4. I'm still on CS 3. And I am not an expert in these things, but previewing using the AJA Adobe plug in (yes that one) was sometimes troublesome while going the old fashioned way works without any problems for me.

I had problems with the adobe plugin as well. But that's when it first came out so maybe it's been fixed.

How's the rest of the Herd?
Anyone out there done actual tests on using the AJA Adobe 6.0.0 plugin for video out with Kona3 vs the direct VideoPreview out from AE?

As I noted earlier, I just use it the way it's always been, direct Video Preview from the app with no plug-ins. It's always worked so I don't see a need to do anything else.
