AJA Kona2 Component output BLUE!

I have a Final Cut running through an AJA Kona2 that gives me a blue image out of the component output. The SDI signal reads correctly, just not the component (which I need for client monitor). Could this be an issue within Final Cut or is it the AJA?

This could one of a couple of things... First, you may have a bad cable. Secondly, it sounds like you don't have the cable connected properly.

Maybe a connector is bad or just not pushed into the connection far enough. Wiggle the cable on both ends and see if you get a good picture.

Try another component cable.

Lastly, check in the AJA Control Panel - Analog Out tab and see what format you are outputting. Try either Component Beta or Component SMPTE.

You don't have blue only selected on your monitor, do you?

If not, check the cable config.

[Jeremy Garchow] "You don't have blue only selected on your monitor, do you?"

that would cause a black and white image wouldn't it?
(showing the blue channel only)

[Chris Borjis] "that would cause a black and white image wouldn't it? "

Depends on the monitor really. Some older ones have a fairly pronounced blue hue.

I don't think that's necessairly the problem just a suggestion, it's more likely a mismatched component cable or the wrong analog out set in the kona CP.

No it would not (you are thinking somehow of the G channel which holds all of the Luma Data)

My bet is the cables are incorrect or you are not using the SMPTE setting for the analog in the Kona Control panel.

If you are hooked up analog component....
......but the preferences on the hardware are set to output Y/C.....
....your output will be blue.
