LHe with Blackmagic Intensity - conflicts, gotchas?
on Jan 3, 2008 at 11:29:22 pm

Hello all
My cathode monitor died today, and since I dont do broadcast, Im thinking of monitoring via an HD TV with HDMI inputs.

The BM Intensity is really cheap, but Im not terribly keen on putting another card in my macpro.

Have any of you tried it, how well does it work, any things i should know?

Thanking you...
Mark.

[Mark Palmos] "he BM Intensity is really cheap, but Im not terribly keen on putting another card in my macpro. "

thats good because the 2 products will NOT work with each other.

AJA makes an HD/ SDI - HDMI converter called the Hi-5 that will do the same thing for about the same cost, and no PCIe slots would be harmed.

Hi Gary, thanks for the reply, thats a great pity.

Ive read a little about the hi5, but its is more than twice the price once you buy the separate power supply. About $900 in the UK...

There is the Matrox one, but thats even more, and does all sorts of things I dont need.

Anything else, something that could use the HD SDI output from the LHe and turn that into HDMI.

Thanks,
Mark.

Hi Mark -
You have just been told about the AJA Hi5 HD-SDI to HDMI converter. And you can take the analog Y Pb Pr outputs of your Kona LHe and feed the analog Y Pb Pr inputs of any LCD or Plasma consumer display and get an HD signal without spending any extra money.

but Mark, there is a NEW INVENTION called the INTERNET. You do things like this - http://www.blackmagic-design.com, and WOW, a site comes up and shows you other companies products, and SURE ENOUGH, Blackmagic makes a product too, called the HD Link that will also convert HD-SDI to HDMI. And it doesn't require a slot, just like the AJA Hi5.

Is there a reason why you don't like to look at websites (besides that porno site you are looking at right now ? ).

Gee Bob, perhaps old age has made you into a bitter old man... such a shame.

I have looked extensively online fellow, so there is no need for your snotty tosser attitude. This forum is for people to ask questions, share ideas. There is no thread I could find on the Cow about this that covers all the products out there, so I thought I was being helpful to others who might search for the same device. If you need to flame someone, go to some teen forum.

have a nice day

Mark.

Bob,
I apologise for my anger at your response. I did not like your tone, but I like mine even less... so sorry!
Mark.

Hi Mark -
please don't apologize to me. If you read my responses, I try to "bait" people on these forums. My payment for this is to give you very accurate and detailed information that you can use in making an informed decision. Please feel free to continue to ask anything you want. I will do my best to respond with an answer as quickly as possible (and think of some creative insult).

Being from the UK, I guess you never were a Ponty Python fan.
