Photoshop and Kona 3 question
on Oct 2, 2007 at 9:48:08 pm

Hi -
If you use Adobe After Effects with the Kona 3, you can have AE do a video preview thru the Kona 3 card by changing the preferences.

So, HOW DO YOU DO THE SAME THING with Adobe Photoshop (and importing into After Effects or Final Cut Pro is not the answer I am looking for). How do you get Adobe Photoshop to diplay directly on an NTSC monitor via the Kona. Another
not-acceptable answer is to go into the Kona Control Panel, select and under Control tab, select MACINTOSH DESKTOP, and drag the photoshop window into this "third" monitor. This is not an acceptable answer.

Anyone ?

That's actually how I've been doing this all along. Honestly have not looked at PS3 to see if it support a Video Preview like After Effects does. I'll check that in the morning.

Oh boy. The only answers are non-acceptable. The only way to do this via the Kona is through the Kona Desktop function. You CAN display a video preview out of Photoshop via Firewire, as Photoshop CS has that capability built in. The video preview feature of Photoshop does not support cards however, only firewire.

Guess I am a dead man.

Yep, that's what it says in the Help menu. Drag and drop over to the Desktop Display is still the only way or bring the image into After Effects.

hiya guys!

Echo Fire by Synthetic Aperture will display the Photoshop "canvas" out the kona card, and not by the desktop cheat either.

there is a macro which will export the photoshop "canvas" to
kona 3, and can also compnesate aspect ratio, superimpose title safe, and so on. (*the app was developed specifically for video monitor previews of photoshop while working in photodhop.

even though its not as good a product as kona, blackmagic claims it supports photoshop previews as well as ae when you install their devices

hope this helps
