ANY IDEAS - File Error: Unknown file.
on Aug 8, 2007 at 7:47:28 am

Hey Guys,

We are running the latest version of FCPS2 on MacOSX 10.4.9 with the may release of the AJA drivers.

We ingest all our media to a second internal drive on our MacPro Dual Quad (8 core) machine

PROBLEM
We have noticed that sometimes that when we attempt to save our projects or when FCP tries to AutoSave we get an error:
File Error: Unknown file.

The only way for us to get around losing our work is to do a 'save as' to the startup disk or one of the other internal drives (there are 3 in total)

I look at the OSX utility Console at at the 'console.log' and there is a bunch of stuff there - which I am not sure if it shed's any light on what the problem could be:

Would you have any ideas with what is going on? This problem is becoming quite unbearable especially when working with clients and an approaching deadline.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's not a Kona issue, I've seen this error on an FCP system without a Kona installed. You may want to search the Final Cut forum, I know this has come up a number of times in the past. I think the only workaround is to do what you are doing though.

Repair your permissions using the disk utility. Sounds like you might not have proper directory access to that folder.
