Dropped Frames on capture
on Jun 15, 2007 at 12:47:18 am

We are currently dropping frames on capture. We haven't run into this problem is the two years we've has this system. Here's our setup:

G5- 2.7ghz
4GB ram
FCP 5.0.4
AJA Kona 2 with K-Box
7TB xserve raid connected via 2gb fiber directly to the mac
Capture deck: AJ-850 DVCPro 25 connected via SDI.

I used disc warrior to rebuild the directory on both sides of the raid.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

What format are you capturing? If you're running FCP 6, you can't capture to ProRes 422 with a G5.

On my list I put down DVCPro 25 AJ-850 via SDI. We capture 10bit uncompressed.

simple - run AJA Kona system test, and check your speed of your array. I didn't see what OS version you were running, but you might have to update your XServe RAID firmware, and go into the XServe RAID ADMIN TOOL, and UNCHECK your CACHE FLUSHING setting, or you will never get the performance you want. If you have upgraded your OS in the last year, and have not done this, this is definately your problem.
