I am helping get started a pipeline in a new, smallish studio that was doing solely photography and is now moving to motion. I am an experienced motion designer and do color grading and am I good fit for their post-production pipeline. I wanted to get your perspectives on if the videographer or cinematographer should be involved in the color grading process (in this particular type of work).
We are not doing TV spots or motion pictures. This is mainly quick hit, social media stuff (part of a day of production followed by 1-3 days of post--it's a lot of green screen or animation stuff). The creative director is the final say on color, how much, if any would you involve the shooter in the pipeline in this instance?
How do you handle if they want to work color on-set? What are some good practices for this?
