Last Fusion update was July 2018 during which time Resolve seems to have had more than 6 major and minor updates. So be sure, in 6-12 months--as BlackMagic says--Resolve will more fully incorporate Fusion. Fusion seems to be EOL but Resolve/Fusion is still a work in progress.
During this time there have been excellent and encouraging Fusion tutorials by Simon Ubsdell and others, especially as they provide invaluable information about alphas and expressions. So well appreciated.
But for now, what other compositing-capable app (suitable for serious but non-professional users) is available until Resolve/Fusion is ready???
Nuke has a limited non-commercial version but surely has "gotchas" to be discovered. Non-free seems to start at over $4,000.
Frankly, Resolve/Fusion fully implemented would be worth IMHO twice the current $300 Studio price. If it really worked.
Would hope not. They are 2 different markets. and with stand alone you get network rendering integration with Avid. There are many compositors that would have no use for the full resolve I am on Resolve and it works fine.
