It begins. Or ends.

...Or just is.

What????? We were JUST assured only a few weeks ago on this forum that CS6 would be available for individual purchase online indefinitely.

Can anyone confirm this?

Read carefully!
That´s only for the VLOUME LICENSES!
Was shocked first also.
But it is like Todd has written: You can still buy at adobe.com after 1st July (if you dond´t need volume-licensing).
Think, they have to push as many users into the train, as they can.
There will be another business-report day, where they have to show, how many users (have to) like this "cloud".

Yes, be careful of the (common) misunderstanding.

What is being discontinued is the sale of CS6 licenses through certain kinds of license agreements, including those sold through resellers. Adobe is still selling CS6 software licenses and making the software available through electronic download from the Adobe website.

FWIW - here is the text of the e-mail that went out. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

----------------------

Dear Adobe Customer,

At Adobe, we’ve always been steadfast in our commitment to providing you with state-of-the-art creative tools. That’s why, effective June 1, we’re making Adobe Creative Cloud your exclusive source for all future creative licensing. This means that Adobe Creative Suite 6 will be discontinued under our TLP and CLP licensing programs. All other Adobe products available under volume licensing, like Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Presenter, will be unaffected by this change.

Rest assured, we’ll work closely with you to make sure the move to Creative Cloud is smooth and without disruption to your team’s projects. If you prefer, you may still buy individual copies of CS6 on adobe.com; however, the apps will not have been updated since CS6 was released two years ago.
As with any change, you're likely to have questions. For answers, contact your authorized Adobe reseller or visit our resource page, which includes FAQs, a comparison of CS6 and Creative Cloud, and other useful information.

Thank you for your business, and we look forward to creating more great things together.

The Adobe Team

Indefinitely
? You gonna hold them to that even after there's not a single machine on the market you can buy that will actually run it?

indefinitely |inˈdefənitlē|
adverb
for an unlimited or unspecified period of time

Now its specified and no longer indefinite.

[Gary Huff] "Indefinitely? You gonna hold them to that even after there's not a single machine on the market you can buy that will actually run it?"

Indefinitely means exactly what it means. It doesn't imply forever, it simply implies that there are no current plans to pull it from the market, which is fine for me. I don't expect them to offer CS6 FOREVER, precisely because of OS changes etc. But then that's obvious to most people.

BTW that is the word THEY used.

[Chris Pettit] "BTW that is the word THEY used."

They? Like a group of people all at once? An official press release? Or simply a post somewhere by a single individual?

Please pardon this post which contributes nothing, but since the subject of the original post was inaccurate, I wanted to set the record straight in the forum's thread-view.
