I'd be curious on cost.

It would depend on your use-case scenario. How may clients, how many con-current users, type of footage, etc. for how heavy the backend infrastructure build is. The bigger the deployment the higher the cost as more server power will be necessary to crunch data in real time. It's not exactly plug-n-play if that's what you're wondering...

It's REALLY expensive. It's an enterprise level solution right now, not a solution for individuals or small shops like mine.

"...or small shops like mine."

Thought you were all grown up, Walter. Even if you become a "big" shop, always play like you are a small shop and everything will be just fine.

I had no idea that this would be out of reach for most of us. That is a major bummer, as I was hoping it would revolutionize post production in the next few years. If it's too expensive for Walter, it's certainly too expensive for me and just about everyone else.

It would be cool if there were Adobe Anywhere service providers like there are online render farm services. Sounds like a prime opportunity for an enterprise strength cloud application provider. :-)

David - if you read the white paper link that I posted above you can see the amount of horsepower that is going into this to make it work. There is a lot of server-grade horsepower that the user has to install in order for this to become a viable option. This feature does seem to be directly catering to the "big boys" though. Not the smaller post-house/boutiques.

I expect, however, that once the technology is deployed the price will begin to creep down as more and more companies delve into it. I'm not sure if it'll ever get to the point where it's as cheap as a DaVinci Resolve license, but it will come down. But you won't catch me holding my breath about it becoming a viable solution for 1 man band editing or even small boutique post-houses anytime soon (i.e. 12-18 months).

Iam sure they are desperatly shooting upgrades cause thwy need to have the numbers. It sounds to me more like desperation. nothing short of a perpetual license will bring me to the cloud.

LOL! I was waiting for somebody to turn this Adobe feature update into a negative. Well played good sir. I hadn't thought of a substantial feature release being such a negative thing before, but now that you mention it.... :-D

I suspect from your point of view if they updated quickly it was because they're desperate for CC subscribers and if they took a long time to roll out an update it's because they don't care about their users and are sitting on hoards of cash. Effectively Adobe can't do anything without it being seen as a negative right now. I believe they call that scenario a Catch-22.

its not just this. its the desperate offerds that sound like pleas they make to those that want to unsubscribe plus the secund period announcement before the secound period ended. it just adds up. its pure sales and marketing 101.
