CC Installer?
on Jun 29, 2013 at 12:54:45 pm

I just commited to 10 seats of CC yesterday. Have not started any installs yet but I saw a post here on the COW that asserts that downloads from the mother ship at Adobe are machine and serial number specific. In other words, we have to go through the download process 20 times? Really?

Yes. Each machine has to have a separate download and installation, as the updates are managed at the individual machine level (that will be safe and fun too!). I do believe Adobe has some solution for a localized method for large enterprises, since firewalls are also a concern. I'm not sure they've implemented that yet.

If you're using Creative Cloud Teams or Creative Cloud Enterprise, you can use the deployment tools (including Creative Cloud Packager) to distribute the installation to multiple machines without downloading separately for each machine.

For details about Creative Cloud installation, activation, and such, bring questions here:

Beware if your network is using a proxy server. CC has proven to be EXTREMELY problematic using a proxy.

That seems like an incredible waste of resources and bandwidth. Unless, of course, you pay a bunch extra to get "Teams" and a bunch of crap you probably don't want.

hey come on Chris. Its a really well run company with top notch support from a room of people also selling car insurance.

the fact that they just decided to stop even trying to actually sell their software to anyone shouldn't be a cause for any concern.

or that the web tools are dead in the water, or that the rest of the suite is twenty years old. Or that all the senior management have cashed out, or that they are apparently OK with reducing the customer numbers by half, or that they are now baldly saying that they are moving to cloud software as a service - and were completely lying, yes that's right, lying to everyone when they repeatedly said they were not.

no no - adobe is in great shape, and no one should be terrified by the idea of getting into a landlord rent position with a twilight company making weird decisions and killing its popular brand image in the process.

adobe is in great shape. look at that kuler wheel. And the stupid ipad pen they might release at some point. they're on top of everything.

And its not like Narayen is going to take a scythe to the software development teams in 18 months when they end up with whatever bedraggled subset of rental customers they have left.

that last part is definitely, definitely not going to happen.

their best days are ahead of them. Flash is on the up, the reaction to their insane -gun to the customers head- shift to lifetime renting went really well right?

it's all gold.
