Some parts of the CC model just don't make sense

Adobe has some programs where they offer utility programs that can do some of the job in an customized interface.

Photoshop has Lightroom for ingesting images.
Premiere has Prelude.

But unlike Lightroom I cannot purchase Prelude as a stand-alone App. I have to get the full Creative Cloud circus to use this simple program!

This means I cannot setup individual workstations or departments, that only take care of ingesting footage, without paying up for all the other Apps.

It just does not make sense, like the rest of the CC craziness.

Where did you hear you can't subscribe to Prelude alone?

Well...Prelude CS6 was mostly purchased as a part of Production Premium or Master Suite. I was told that each individual program would be available individually (it sounded like it would be around 30 USD/month for each individual package vs 50 USD/month for everything...

Since no CC product will be available for sale until the 17th, you can't buy any of them now...

Many other Cc products are listed for individual subscription (20$) - but not Prelude.
Doesn't make sense to me...

Ah...I see.

Odd. I was assured that Prelude would be available as an individual application in conversation at NAB...

I guess we'll know for certain after the 17th.

Prelude CS6 has not been available as a single-application subscription through Creative Cloud. Starting with the CC release on June 17th, Prelude will be available as a single-application subscription.
