OK - the Creative Cloud sync is down as of the moment:

Would someone who has licensed CS6 over the Cloud respond as to whether their software is currently running, or are there errors, or anything different? Thanks...

I have CS 6 PPro via Creative Cloud. I just launched it, started a new project and everything seems to work. The last time I launched it was April 3rd.

Interesting link. Why doesn't Adobe make me aware of sites like this? Would have saved me the trouble of posting and searching regarding Sync.

Joe,
We are working on this issue right now. Only sync is experiencing issues. Thanks for your interest and concern.

Happy Friday!

The activation servers are unaffected by this.

As Kevin says, it is just the file synch functionality that is down.

The desktop applications and their activation are unaffected.

Ah...thank you both Todd and Kevin - I was just thinking that since the Cloud sync was down, this might adversely affect users, and it would be a good chance to test all the speculation which has been going on...I guess I don't understand how it all works, either. Another question, then - with sync down, does that mean that users will not be able to access their files on the Cloud? Or just that if there was a recent change that synced, getting to that change from a different computer would not be possible? I'm trying to get this all straight in my head.

Because the current outage is just for the service that stores copies of files on the server, I think that the result would be just like if Dropbox stopped working for a while: i.e., you'd not be able to get the remote version of the files, though you'd still have the local versions of the files on your computer.

That said, I'm no expert on the file synch features of Creative Cloud. I'm just the After Effects guy. What I know for sure is that this doesn't affect the activation of After Effects and other desktop applications. That's a different service.

Thanks Todd -

As a Dropbox user, I've been bitten several times by DB outages while trying to deliver projects. I'm trying to wrap my head around the grand scheme of things with the Cloud, so that when I do make the jump (right now I'm a happy owner of the CS6 Master Collection discs), I'll know what to expect.

no problems here, I don't sync anything to the cloud so I wouldn't notice any downtime with that, no issues using my CS6 apps today.

Any files you have in the cloud can be manually downloaded through the browser while the sync server is down. And obviously, any that are left on the local machine are accessible.

I went through this with Google Drive, which took a few months to, well, work.

CS6 apps are still working fine while CC Connection sync has been down.
