Don't let the numbering scheme fool you. This is a major release.

Absolutely.

Just look at those five year old FCP X features they've now added into Premiere Pro.

It's positively transformative!

(Pocket your virtual rocks, friends, I'm just teasing! - if this turns out to enable a better editing experience for Premiere Pro Editors, thats a very good thing. Editing is hard enough as it is - improvement in the available tools - and and all tools - is always welcome.)

Come back to us when FCP X has a functional mixer :)

Wow Bill! You show up here to cackle and crow and throw stones, but when someone so much as mentions anything you consider negative toward FCPX on "your" forum, you belittle them and consider them cavemen.

What an approach to being useful as a contributor to the COW!

Just curious. What specifically FCP X features did Premiere Pro borrow?
NB: I read in another thread that FCP X was not the first NLE to come up with a proxy workflow so that's not a feature Premiere Pro borrowed from FCP X.

Yeah I think it's proxy primarily that Bill's excited about. Some of us we're editing in proxy before FCX was a gleam in Job's maniacal eye but I think it's bizarrely being considered an Apple creation here.

[Robert d'Alexis] "Just curious. What specifically FCP X features did Premiere Pro borrow?"

Yes, Proxy was a part of X from 5 years back - as was the skimmer - essentially the same function that PPro now calls 'hover scrub." And please note my original language.

I didn't write "EXCLUSIVELY X features."

I simply teasingly pointed out that things that X featured back on it's initial release nearly five years ago - when the great hue and cry arose about how HORRIBLE an NLE it was and how Apple had so damaged the industry by re-thinking NLE ideas - well, now those same ideas are showing up in the competition.

And not just Premiere Pro. Resolves NLE suite looks (and operates from what I'm told) quite a bit like X in many ways.

So I think my observation stands.

If you don't. Make the counter case.

As as to my dropping by here, I didn't know I needed a passport. No more than the Premiere Pro folks need one to come to the Apple forums. To the best of my knowledge, none of these forums have gone full BREXIT... yet.

Plus, heck, according to Apple's WWDC presentation, It seems that Apple *might* have some form of subscription services in mind going forward. Maybe that will eventually apply to the ProApps.

If that turns out to the be case. You guys will be totally free to trumpet THAT as a Premiere Pro "innovation" that has migrated to X in the coming months!

Thanks?

Like my personal sadness (that I've almost totally gotten over) at losing my beloved "Program Library" in X, I'll have to buck up and adapt. I'm sure there will be scads of people jumping up to tease me about that if it takes place.

And so it goes.

If only Apple would update FCPX, like that will happen anytine soon.
