If I remember from an earlier extended thread at FCPX - adobe are engaged in a roughly 600% markup over the old maintenance licenses.
They have absolutely no shame. they are gone money mad.

Um, the guy says right in the blog that he has to double-check his figures. Down, boy!

seriously - he's not the only one. they killed the old CLP term licenses -

education is taking a massive hit. there's a ton out there on it. there was a large thread over at FCPX on it a while ago.
Like I say - company gone frothing mad for money.

Yeah, I understand where you're going: educational institutions are taking it in the shorts.

I think I'd have waited until the source you quote felt he had his facts straight, however.

We had another educational user who got his numbers messed up last week.

(...his IT guy got the wrong figures from Adobe or an Adobe rep, so it wasn't really his problem unless they gave the rep incorrect info on the nature of their license.)...on further research, he found out the rate was not much different than where he was previously.

But Aindreas..."raping"? Chill out.

This guy blogs numbers he isn't even sure of, and suddenly you're comparing it to "rape?" I know you don't like me to critique your communication style, but several of you are really reaching with your characterizations on this forum...

[Tim Kolb] "and suddenly you're comparing it to "rape?" "

hey nothing wrong with the odd NY Post headline. you're the one who came up with:
the only actual ongoing vendor/customer trust relationship available in this context

...to describe subscription - I mean, honest to god, that was genuinely hilarious.

We have to laugh a little...since you're Irish, I am quite entertained by imagining you reading it aloud in a nice Irish Brogue...

It's a pretty poor brogue if I'm being honest...
