Adobe CC questions about subscriptions?
on May 7, 2015 at 7:13:21 pm

Ok, so I know Adobe made the jump to subscriptions but is that the only way to get their products? Am I stuck just paying a subscription forever? I can't ever pay for one of the products without a subscriptions? I don't know that I'll have the money every month to pay for a subscription. I would rather just save for a while and pay once for the product and that's it without having to worry about making sure I have enough extra money to pay for the subscription for the rest of my life instead of just buying the product. Maybe I'll just upgrade everything to CS6 and just stay there..

The only problem with me buying CS6 is that if a client sends me newer files I obviously won't be able to open them. I guess there's really no solution.

What kind of files are you expecting the client to send you?

Around these parts ..we send the client files. That's why they come to us....and why we stay ahead of the game with current versions of software etc.

Thank you for all the replies and advice. Craig, I get sent files quite a bit to be edited and updated especially with businesses who want me to build on something they have made themselveS.

Hey Lindsay,

CS6 for a permanent license, but as you say won't be up to date. Or CC as a subscription is your options with Adobe.

You can subscribe on a month by month basis without being tied into a long-term plan. This could work out more expensive, or if you charge it back to the client as part of your fees, a better way of managing your costs.

Depending on the work you do, you could consider doing an annual plan for Photoshop, and monthly for the rest.

However, if you are charging your clients, then you should build the cost of CC into those charges.

All the Best
