Post audio with Audition?
on Jul 9, 2013 at 5:01:32 pm

We are a multi-seat CS6 and now, CC house. Still running a dozen seats of FCP 7 and Pro tools as well. Q: is anyone actually using Audition for audio post? Comments? Tips n tricks? Opinions?

Here's a very nice Adobe TV overview that shows some of the workflow possibilities between PPro and Audition:

Be patient with the basic stuff at the front end - it gets way better.

Pat -

Here's another good overview of the practical uses of Audition:

http://tv.adobe.com/watch/no-stupid-questions-with-colin-smith/introduction...

Over the years I've used a dedicated DAW, Sound Forge, SoundBooth, and Cool Edit Pro, which was the genesis of Audition:

I'm firmly convinced that Audition blows them all away. While SoundBooth was good at what it did, it was really more of a simplistic, yet fairly powerful, sound tool for video editors.

I actually used Audition for the first time on a project not too long ago after Avid told me I had a free upgrade to Pro Tools 11 without telling me before I surrendered my 10 license I needed an iLok 2 to get it (which runs about 50 bucks, guess it serves me right for not reading the fine print lol). Never the less, I was very pleased with the workflow save for a few idiosyncrasies I'm sure I'll get the hang of.

Thanks Dan, what suggestions would you have for audio I/O if we were to use an iMAC for our audio workstation? We only need 2 MIC inputs and 2 outputs. Ideally we'd like to be able to use the same hardware I/O for ProTools, FCP and Adobe CC. Thoughts?

I used to have an Avid FastTrack interface...it has a single mic input, I think they make a 4-input version as well...It's always worked great in ProTools and Soundtrack Pro so I assume it would work in Audition however I can't confirm it as I sold it not too long ago.
