bridge, retrieving blacks in RAW

I love the exposure slider in Bridge, you can really retrieve so much highlights in RAW files by just sliding to left and also use recover.

Even in really over exposed footage.

Blacks though doesnt have a slider like this. I filmed some
footage where blacks are clipping? Anny way to retrieve this? I tried curves, does do something upto a certain extend but nothing compared
to the way highlights are retrieved.

Try lifting your gain/exposure.

I found out I mostly need to bring the exposure down just a little for the highlights not to peak.... So bringing it up is not really an option.

Is there any other RAW editing program that does allow to retrieve peaking blacks?

The BMCC was really built to be graded in DaVinci Resolve. I know it's intimidating but that will ultimately give you the most control over the image and raw processing.

bridge CS6, retrieving blacks in RAW POSSIBLE
on Nov 11, 2013 at 4:16:11 pm

unfortunately DAVINCE DOESNT OPEN ON MY POWERCOMP yet, still have to look into that. But now I have an urgent TV spot I need to edit so have to
use bridge for now.

But I solved my problem. As CS 5 bridge (which I was using) doesnt allow blacks to be retrieved I tried CS6 and BAMMMMM yep, blacks can also be retrieved.

Any tips on workflow?

I normally make sure my whites are not clipping and the blacks are not clipping. This as I noticed that once they clip it can not be retrieved in AE. So basically thats all I do in bridge... and a bit clarity as well.

In AE I use Synthetic aperture for further work and the collorista 2.

Anny tips for the Bridge cs6 stage when importing into AE will be very welcome....
