4x4 mattebox for BMCC

Is it possible to have a 4x4 mattebox on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K EF mount? What could the effects be? I'm checking out the Tilta III DSLR Shoulder Rig which is a little cheaper than the Blackmagic solution they have.

That's all about your lens. Chances are you will be fine with a 4x4 as you will probably not be wide enough to vignette on the 2.5k version. This is typically the problem with a 4x4 system. Wide lenses may see the edge of your filter. But unless you are using some very wide glass, due to the crop factor you will probably be alright most of the time. As per effects, you have the option of anything that comes in a 4x4 which is just about anything. Tilta stuff is very good too.

Ah ok, because of now I'm using a MIR-20 wideangle as my widest lens. It's about 93mm wide. Thought I read in the description of the Tilta rig that lenses below 110mm should be fine. What do you think?

What you've read is really talking about the diameter of the lens, not the focal length. What is the focal length of your lens? But yes, that diameter will fit in the mattebox. The questions of whether or not it will vignette is dependent on the focal length.

The focal length is 20mm as it is the widest lens I have at the moment. How wide could I go before I get the vignetting effect?

Given the crop I'm not exactly sure now wide you could go as I have not tested it myself, but I'm reasonably confident that you won't run into any trouble with that lens.
