Native Resolution Monitoring from BMCC - Necessary? Possible?
on Sep 16, 2012 at 2:57:22 pm

Hello all,

So I've been thinking about the best way to monitor BMCC footage for grading and screening and I find it interesting that even Blackmagic's new UltraStudio 4K cannot output the BMCC's native resolution. Of course, 2.5K is not really a standard but might there be a situation where we would want to output at native resolution?

But furthermore, and specifically for grading, would native monitoring be really necessary? Flanders Scientific's highest resolution monitor is 1920x1200 so anything higher than HD is scaled anyway.

I was just thinking about how 2.5K "fits" and would love to hear some thoughts from others.

Thanks!
