A good wide angle lens for 2.5K BMCC?
on Jul 29, 2014 at 2:02:18 pm

We currently have the Canon 17-55mm
Anyone have a suggestion for a wider lens? With the smaller sensor the 17mm does not go wide enough.
thanks

The widest and straightest lens for the BMCC is the Sigma 8-16mm f/4-5.6. It's slow, so you'll need light or shoot outdoors. But it's truly wide and gives a straight image (non fisheye). If you need more speed, the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is a popular option.

A blog post I wrote on this topic two years ago for the BMCC:

Cheers!

Hi John - if you don't mind shooting with a manual cine lens, the $579 Rokinon 10mm T3.1 is a nice (and relatively fast) wide angle lens for the BMCC.

Hope this is helpful!
