JVC 250: Blue out of alignment?
on May 23, 2011 at 2:24:38 pm

I turned on my 250 yesterday, and the blue was clearly out of alignment. I had just used it the day before and the images were fine. I’m wondering if anyone has run into this before, and what might be wrong. I am assuming it’s the CCD, and that can’t be cheap to fix.

4 MONTHS! I was hoping to get it back in a couple of weeks! Where did you send it? What did they say was wrong? I was thinking I may just order the parts and do it myself if it is going to take that long.

Thanks,

Chuck

But its very hidden fault.
Sometimes camera works good, some times gives blue. No apparent cause. When i give to service camera works veeeery good. But for sew days in service sometimes give blue screen, sometimes works great.

This is maybe matrix, maybe other part.
wait, wait, wait....

i wait for other damage unit to replace ccd block or info from Your service
if You give some info, please send me e-mail about Your gear, i speak with my service man, or if i get some info, i write to You.

But i have some cameras and JVC is NOT primary camcorder for me.
I wait for low cost repair, easy and expensive option i know.

My service man still thinks about damage, and low cost fix it.

It more than likely IS the CCD. JVC would probably replace the board. The place I work at doesnt charge an estimate to look at it. But I cant "advertise" here lol.

We have three GY-HD250 in Studio configuration and we also have a blue registration problem. When we opened the camera the blue sensor fell off of the prism. The glue had let go. Of course this happened two months past our warranty, but we talking to JVC about our options.

Thanks for jumping into the conversation guys.

Dennis, any chance you can walk me through the process that you used to get to that point?

Chris, I may be sending my camera over to you if it is indeed the CCD, but I would hate to spend a couple hundred dollars to ship the camera across the country for a simple fix as Dennis has described.

Chuck,
We found the problem by removing the left side panel of the camera and when we laid the camera on it's side the blue CCD literally fell loose making the camera completely useless. The repair will require the replacement of the complete CCD block. There is no way to reattach and properly align an individual CCD in the field. If you have an equipment maintenance background you can buy the CCD block from JVC and replace it yourself, but if you have never torn a piece of JVC equipment apart before, I HIGHLY recommend you pay a professional to do it. Many of the parts and connections are very small and can easily be damaged if they are not handled properly.

My thoughts exactly. If this is sent to the manufacturer the entire board would need to be replaced. Not to toot my own horn, but our facility has the equipment to replace the chips on the board itself. Make sure you find any way possible to repair the board where ever you decide to take it to so you can save some money. Good Luck!

Hi

now i make few shots in usa, when i back to europe i call to service and ask about my jvc camera.
My service man give me high price to ccd (too high for this camcorder).
Maybe i find cheaper ccd.
Where You ask about ccd?, how many pay Yopu for CCD?

JVC or an authorized service center are the only providers for the CCD assembly that I am aware of. Expect to pay around $1,400.00 for the part plus the cost of labor to install it.
