No QT support for JVC GY-HD 200/250 using FS-4 HD Pro
on Mar 12, 2007 at 2:30:13 am

After 2 weeks trying to install the new QT HD upgrade on my FS-4 Pro HD 80GB to work with JVC GY-HD 200, Firestore (focusinfo.com) acknowledged that it doesn't work and that there is no fix available (even though the problem is known for some time). Stll only M2T.

As I understand it you should be able to shoot Quicktime files at 720p24, 720p25, and 720p30 with this update (with the 200/250).

It is widely understood that 720p60 and 720p50 will not work until FCP supports them via firewire which makes sense.

Is this not the case?

Official answer from Focusinfo:
"Actually the problem is listed for our Firestore DR-HD100 and was fixed with the 2.2 firmware version for the DR-HD100. Right now there is no current fix for the FS-4 Pro HD units using JVC GY-HD 200/250."

I have tried everything and worked with Focus support for 2 weeks. Focus development has to come up with a new fix to use Quicktime 720/30 with any FS-4 HD Pro. The Firestore creates the QT icon but shuts off inmediately.

Focusinfo doesn`t offer in ther webpage 720p24, 720p25 support. It says: "With the FS-4Pro HD v2.0 firmware update, you can record 1080i-50/60 and 720p/30 clips in the native QT HDV file format."

We were planning on purchasing two DR-HD100's when 720p60 quicktime is supported.

Until then we will just capture tape as DVC Pro HD via HDMI (from the HD50 deck) with the Decklink HD studio card.

If you need 720p60 today you might consider the Decklink card.
