ADS Pyro / Lacie D2 Drive
on May 6, 2006 at 6:53:49 am

I have an ADS Pyro drive and a Lacie D2 160gb firewire drive both connected to the same PCI Firewire card in my computer. They both work fine seperately, but when I have them both on, the hard drive is automatically disconnected. I bought a second Firewire card, and the same thing happens. At present, I have both Firewire cards connected, and each device plugged into each seperate card. Should I have to do this?

Yes. You need to capture from your firewire card and write to a second data storage device, in your case, a second firewire card with a hard drive attached. A firewire port can only handle one device at a time, and you need two devices simultaneously. Net result, you need two firewire cards.

What john said is correct. Try to connect your LaCie drive into one of your USB (2.0 I hope) ports. That should clear up your issues.
