Video Capture on Older PC???????
on Feb 12, 2005 at 6:06:57 pm

Hi, I'll start off with my pc's specs: Dell OptiPlex G300 with a 933mz processor and 512mb rdram, Matrox G400 Video Card, 3 vacant pci slots. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I would like to be able to capture video from vhs/svhs tapes and burn to dvd (I have a singel layer dvd burner). Is there a solution for my pc configuration? My pc does not meet the recommended specs for most cards/external devices that I have researched. Any suggestions/recommendatios, short of "Buy a New PC" would be appreciated. Thanks, Ray

Your computer is powerful enough to handle one of the analog-to-DV converters, for example the ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link, Canopus ADVC-110 or Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV or Studio AV/DV. You will almost certainly need a dedicated video capture drive and (if you get one of the external devices, a firewire card.
