Codec Problems
on Mar 21, 2006 at 8:31:04 pm

First off, I'm new and I have no idea if this is the right forum for the topic.

Anyway, I have downloaded two files (seperatley), tv episodes to be precice.

AVI format, however I cannot play them. I get an error saying something about not supporting it, or wrong codec or something.

Now, I've tried afree and GSpot's programs for identifying the codec needed and they say the files are not readable.

But what are the odds of two seperate files both not playing? And to add to my suspicion, recently some MP3 files have stopped playing (on transfare to my MP3 player they work) however media player gives the same error (about no codec).

I'm just wondering if I possibly have a corrupt codec or a conflict or something. How can I tell and how can I fix it?
