Dual core for video editing
on Feb 3, 2006 at 8:19:20 pm

My Advent T9304 P4 3.2Ghz HT machine is socket 775. Mobo is MS-7091

Forgive my ignorance, but this :-
http://extremeoverclocking.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=159... D 950 Dual Core Processor %283.4 GHz%2C 4MB%2C 800MHz FSB%2C Socket 775%29

is also socket 775.

Does that mean I can use it with my current machine? If so, would it be powerful enough for HDV editing in Vegas 6?

Cheers,
Ross

The socket is only part of what you need. Your motherboard also needs to have the right chipset. You need a 945 or 955 chipset, for dual core, which i don't think your computer MOBO has. It probably has a 915 or 925. (to prevent your next question being asked... no you can't change your MOBO's chipset.)
