New home multimedia network

Very Happy Am in the proces of building a home multimedia network and would like advice on how to get started. I own several Sony Desk Top computer one is the latest and greatest, at least that's what Sony says.

My goal is to hardwire the house for audio and video (HD) and have a central Server. I have about 600 DVD's purchaed over the years and am currently using a Sony 400 DVD changer for storage. Unfortunatenly the online file display leave lots to be desired. I am running Xp Media Center 2005 so could use that as my controller, I think! Have 2 Gigi of memory and lots of hard drive space plus have a 400 gigi external drive attached through a USP 2 port.

Hard drives are cheap so I am considering purchasing sufficient storage for my DVD collection and making them available to all nodes on the network (probably no more than 4).

My question is what graphics card should I be using to delivery the best possible picture quality. I would also like to capture over the air HD content for viewing later.

Ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ole Sgt

Hi Ole Sgt,

WOW! Lots of great gear you've got there. Here are the 2 best resources I know of for setting up home Media Center PCs.
