What is the .M2V file extension?
on Jan 15, 2006 at 11:14:07 pm

I notice in Prenier 6.5 that if I want to convert a .AVI file into .MPG to make a DVD that it wants to save the file as a .M2V. What is this extension? NERO doesn't recognize thhis file extension.

m2v files are the mpeg-2 ibp video files used for authoring a DVD. You have to use an authoring program to combine the m2v, wav, chapter points, and menus into a set of DVD video files, ifo, bup, and vob, which Nero can use to burn the video DVD.

Then I need 3 seperate programs? I made the .AVI file with Premier 6.5. I need another program to author it... THEN use NERO to burn it?

Is there a program that will do it all?

Don't know what's available now. When I used Premiere 6.5, I used DVDit 2.5.4 PE to author my DVD's. I've upgraded to the Adobe Video Collection, so I now author with Encore, which also burns the DVD's directly after authoring.
