Flicker problem with the ATI TV USB 2
on Dec 8, 2004 at 2:01:25 pm

My desktop system is in good working condition, up todate on drivers and runs XP Sp2. After finally installing the ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0, whenever I play TV (either through their software or thru other packages, I get 3 or 4 horizontal thin bands , almost equally spaced, that cut across the TV window. I get my service thru Cable so it's not a reception issue. I can't dp any decent recording or tape conversion with this flicker on my TV window. Is this a problem with the ATI TV and capture hardware? or my PC? Any ideas?

- I tried reducing resolution to 1280x1024 and increase the monitor scan rate to 85 from 70. No visible difference.

My PC has a SOYO Dragon Plus MOBO with AMD Athlon 1800, 768MB RAM and NVDIA GeForce MX400, 64MB.

Thanks
Anthony

Flicker persists while viewing from a Video signal

Flicker persists while viewing/capturing from a Video Signal

I have the same problem when I use video input. I recorded 20 min from an 8mm tape and the problem persisted throughout. To boot, MMC crashed playing the mpg2 DVD file I created, yet I was able to play it in RealOne and Windows Media Player.

Here is the info on my IRQ's if it helps,

IRQ 0 System timer OK
IRQ 1 Easy Internet Keyboard OK
IRQ 4 Communications Port (COM1) OK
IRQ 5 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 5 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 5 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 6 Standard floppy disk controller OK
IRQ 7 NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller (B1) OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System OK
IRQ 10 NETGEAR FA311 Fast Ethernet Adapter OK
IRQ 10 NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller OK
IRQ 11 NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400 OK
IRQ 11 NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller OK
IRQ 11 CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device OK
IRQ 12 Logitech-compatible Mouse PS/2 OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK
IRQ 14 Primary IDE Channel OK
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE Channel OK

ATI sent me a canned reply with links to all their FAQ. I went through them but found nothing about this issue.

I have another problem on a second machine relating to the same software. I will post another thread relating to the video driver not being initialized by the TV player.

Thanks for the help,
Anthony
