Canopus ADVC-1394 vs. ADVC-100
on Nov 28, 2004 at 6:40:52 pm

These two Canopus product seem similar in fuctionality. Are they? I have a preference for "everything in one box" solutions, so I'd prefer a PCI card with the functionality of the ADVC-100. Will the 1394 also lock the audio?

Thanks

Paul

I wish you would get some feedback. I too would like to know which is better. I think the advc100 defeats macrovision...not sure how to apply that though. Maybe you can play a dvd move in your dvd player, rip to a avi file, then reburn to a copy.
Of course the 100 is a box...so wires would be going everywhere from you source to the box and then the computer.
The question i have on the 1394pci is would video capture on a pci express computer be faster than the old pci bus computers. Or will canopus have to come out with a PCI express version?

ADVC100 is the way to go. It is bi-directional (dv to analog & analog to DV). You can tweak it to defeat macrovision.
