Windows XP Media Center Edition?
on Sep 13, 2005 at 5:19:18 am

Hi - I'm looking at all the new Dell Dimension's which come with Windows XP Media Center Edition - anu thoughts on this OS? Any known problems using this for NLE?

Also, I notice these PC's have the option of a firewire port - are these things already setup to capture DV? Without having to add a capture card of some sort?

Sorry for all the questions - I still have a Celeron 400 with 64MB RAM, with a Pinnacle DC10+ card, so naturally, I have alot of catching up to do before I make a new purchase, and all this new technology is a bit overwhelming!

Thanks!

Windows XP Media Center Edition is really only good for using your computer as a media center (TIVO/DVR, DVD player, etc.) It won't improve your video editing at all. If I were you I'd use XP home or pro instead.
