Sound error message in Avid.. Please Help!
on Aug 28, 2005 at 2:47:33 am

After installing Avid XPress Pro HD, I got a nasty error msg when the software is loading, and Avid does not launch! The error msg reads:
"Exception: ADM_DSOUND_MIXER_OPEN_ERROR"

I'm using Asus Realtek HD onboard sound on Asus P5WD2 mobo... Anyone know what's causing this error and how do I fix it? Need help and fast...Thanks!

(oops, I probably should've posted in the sftwr catagory..sorry)

I think Avid is having conflicts with the Realtek onboard sound... going to try an old SB Live! card and see if that works.

Any other suggestions on sound card choices that Avid likes?

i had this problem on a mac once. before launching media composer or xpress pro or whatever you're using, make sure your computer's sound out volume is NOT set all the way down to off.

Take a look at this:

You could also try changing in your control panel, voice tab, the voice playback and voice recorder to another device (probably windows wav). Also, if you have a webcam attached, de-attach it.

What happens when you disable the onboard sound before you install the program?
