I'm looking to add a high speed and capacity drive to my existing system for video editing with Premiere. I was thinking about a SATA II drive and add on card. With PCI 32 bit/33mhz slots will I get the full benefit of this drive? I was thinking of getting the following:

PROMISE SATA 300TX4 2-PORT SATA 3G CONTROLLER
HITACHI 250GB HDT722525DLA380 SATA300 7200RPM

Currently I am running a Seagate cheetah u320 36gb for my system drive and a 7200rpm 200gb UDMA 100 Western Digital for my video drive. Right now it has about 47gb/93,000 files on it (stills from Max) I keep it defragged well, but clips compiled from it in Premiere report dropped frames. I will keep this drive as my archive, and the new drive strictly for the current project. Would this many files and this space filled affect transfer rate and cause the dropped frames?

Thanks

Mike
